Art and Cameras

Well I broke my camera a day or two ago. It was a PowerShot A520. I had gotten some moisture on the lens and I was pushing on it, wiping it off and I pushed it in a little (it was zoomed out) now it is stuck, and from what I hear, trash. SOOO, I'm thinking of upgrading slightly, going with a Powershot 570. It's not too expensive- under $200 and I was pretty happy with the Canon I just broke, so I think I'll just get another one.
In other news- I have made some great digital art that I'm thinking of trying to sell on http://chimeracreation.etsy.com So far I have made 4 collages. I also have some photographs I have taken that I might list. Right now I am ordering some test prints to help me decide where I want to get them printed at.

ACEO

This is a new ACEO I put up on http://chimeracreation.etsy.com
It reminds me of Florida in maybe like the 70s? The teals and blues and pinks with a palm tree... I like this one because of the texture the gesso gave it on the bottom layers.

Jelly Projects

I've finished the jellyfish for my daughter and almost completed one for my shop- http://chimeracrochet.etsy.com/ He is yellow and white, like a sunnyside up egg. I just kill myself with my own humour.

Artist's Passion

"and now she feels the passion that an artist feels when she/he truly discovers what they are meant to be doing." from http://ravenxxxx.blogspot.com/

This quote from ravenx's blog really struck me. I do a lot of different types of 'arts and crafts' from crochet, to painting to photography. I enjoy doing them all, and depending on the day, I think I feel the 'passion' at different levels for different things. Sometimes I wonder if one day I will try a new art or craft and it will just blow all the others out of the water. But as it is, I only do things I enjoy.

I wonder how many artists go through art/craft after art/craft before they discover 'the one'. I'm sure most try a lot of things, because if you just have that creative urge in you, most likely you will seek more than one outlet for it.

Kitty Crazy

I was going to post a photo of a work in progress- I am making a jellyfish stuffie for my daughter Elsa. But I'm more in a photo mood and thought I'd post some kitty photos from my flickr account. I've become obsessed taking photos of my kitties cuddling and then uploading them to flickr.

One of my main problems is photographing Ernie. His black face is hard to capture, even in natural light.

A new ACEO

Drawing and Collage, originally uploaded by Chimera Creation.

I've titled this one, "Um, can I have a bite of that?" It is a drawing done in india ink, then a wee bird was added and a splash of watercolor around him. I hope you like it.

Animal Rescue Site

I added a new permanant link to the animal rescue site at the bottom of my page. Be sure to click every day, it's all for charity!

Well http://chimeracreation.etsy.com is coming along nicely. I'm going to be adding one or two pieces everyday until I get all my current stash of artwork listed. I'm finding that scanning them is not producing the results I want. Oddly enough, the scans don't look as true to life as the photographs do.
Speaking of photographs, I took some great shots of a ceramic bunny this morning. I'm going to get some printed to see if I may want to sell some prints on Chimera Creation.
